What fruit plant is good for growing in a indoor garden?

by indoor i mean something similar to hydroponics…indoor lights and fans… the works…

I was thinking watermelon or cantaloupe?

if you want to gardening.com/r/freeorganicgarden’;return true;” onmouseout=”self.status=””>grow a watermelon or a cantaloupe plant, you’ll need a very large pot, I’d say 16 inches deep at least, and as big wide at the top. you should be able to do it that way, keep it moist and light 12 hours a day. The easiest fruit to grow indoors is strawberries, and they only need a pot 6 inches deep. If you want to go crazy, you could order the small dwarf trees in pots that bear fruit, like lemons, limes, citrus fruits.

Vegetable Gardening Planting Times Advice?

I found a good site at http://www.vegetablegardeninghelp.com and got a good free vegetable gardening guide there. But now im wondering what are the planting times I need to follow.

I mean dont the planting times change from season to season? Im a little confused as im trying to plant some tomatoes and I dont know if now is the time to plant them or not. If anyone has any advice on this I would be thankful. Thanks

Planting times depend almost entirely on your area. In the North, you plant in the spring time, because the snow’s melted, and the rain won’t be heavy enough to crush the plants. In the Southwest, you gardening.com/r/myorganicfoodgarden” style=”" target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow” onmouseover=”self.status=’http://www.veryeasygardening.com/r/myorganicfoodgarden’;return true;” onmouseout=”self.status=””>plant in the fall, because the summer heat won’t kill them, and some rain will finally start watering them.

Depending on the area, planting times can be very specific and limited, or cover large areas of the calender. Sometimes there may be different times for different plants, etc.

Tomatoes tend to like it drier than most cultivated plants, but without knowing where you are, I don’t think anyone can tell you want you want to know.

What exactly is organic gardening? I am planting basil and coriander. How would they be organic or not organic?

Organic gardening.com/r/freeorganicgarden’;return true;” onmouseout=”self.status=””>gardening simply means something that is grown in a totally natural way: no insecticides, no pesticides, no artificial fertilizers – no artificial interference. That`s all.

But first you have to find some rich healthy natural soil – not always easy these days. You can never be quite sure what has entered the soil now – so much pollution falls from the sky with the snow and rain.

Indoor veggie gardening?

Does anyone have any ideas or expirience with growing vegetables or fruit indoors in containers? Thanks.

Depending on how much space you’ve got there are a few things you can gardening.com/r/freeorganicgarden” style=”" target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow” onmouseover=”self.status=’http://www.veryeasygardening.com/r/freeorganicgarden’;return true;” onmouseout=”self.status=””>grow indoors.

Mini-tomatoes work well if you’ve just got a windowsill, and want something cute. Radishes do pretty well too. You might be able to do some strawberry plants in a hanging basket.

Just remember, if you want anything to produce fruit, you’re gonna have to pollinate by hand, because there are no friendly bugs to do it for you. This is pretty easy, you just get a small paintbrush and dust the pistils with pollen from the stamen. Also, make sure that everything gets enough sun. Most of these plants were not really meant meant to be grown indoors, so the window that they need to be near needs to be a sunny one. If things are lacking, growlights might not be a bad idea.

You may want to take a look at Seeds of Change. They have a website, and several seed collections. One of them is an "Edible patio container gardening" collection, and I think it would work well for your purposes.

Vegetable Gardening Tips To Build Perfect Garden?

Perhaps look at sunset magazine; they always have cute ideas for your garden!
Or perhaps go to the home depot and look at the magazines they have on gardening.

They are quite helpful!

Does seaweed extract for gardening the best organic fertilizer to use on plants?

noticed growth on all my plants last spring 07
i think it grows best in warm weather
also noticed flowers and multiple growths on plants
hormones i think is better and safer than nitrogen
i think all fertilizers should be organic in nature

Farmers and gardeners have been dealing with "what is the best fertilizer" for, literally, thousands of years. The link below is one list of the plant nutrient content of available fertilizers. The one constant in all of this is that plants need to absorb certain nutrients to grow and only absorb nutrients they need to grow as certain specific ions.
Nitrogen, for example, is a required nutrient for plant growth and is only absorbed as ammonium ion or nitrate ion. Organic fertilizers, including seaweed extract, contain nitrogen which is usually converted by soil organisms to nitrate or ammonium, which can then be used by a plant.
Because the nutrient requirements are known for most gardening.com/r/hydroponicgarden” style=”" target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow” onmouseover=”self.status=’http://www.veryeasygardening.com/r/hydroponicgarden’;return true;” onmouseout=”self.status=””>plants, you can calculate how much fertilizer is required for your plants and apply that fertilizer accordingly. Too much or too little fertilizer each has negative effects on plants, and possibly the environment, whether the fertilizer is organic or inorganic.
For example, if I fertilize the grass in my cow pasture with seaweed extract at .7% nitrogen, I would apply 8571 pounds of seaweed extract to 1 acre to obtain the necessary 60 lbs per acre of nitrogen. If I used poultry manure at 3% nitrogen I would need to apply 2000 lbs per acre. With those numbers in mind, you can see that there are other considerations you have to take into account.
